Our History

The Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (DCCCII) marked a significant turning point in the history of Davao City. The meeting of local business leaders in February 1968 at the Davao Beach Club laid the foundation for an active and dynamic business organization that would advocate for the interests of the local business community. The city's economic progress was in its early stages at that time, and the formation of the chamber aimed to foster further development.

Key figures such as Edmund N. Madrazo, Leon M. Garcia Jr., and Ramon A. Tirol played instrumental roles in hosting the dinner meeting and initiating the organization. Teodoro Araneto's involvement as the Vice President for Mindanao of the then Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (CCP) was crucial in bringing forth the proposed Articles of Incorporation and By-Laws for the envisioned chamber.

The charter members of the chamber include individuals such as Vicente Ang Chok, Ruben E. Angeles, and Francisco Ma. Basilio, Juan G. Bosquit, Honesto A. Cabarroguis, Jose B. Custodio, and others formed the core group that played an integral role in shaping the chamber's early development.

The initial set of officers, led by Ramon A. Tirol as president, laid the groundwork for the chamber's activities and initiatives. The Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. was formally inaugurated on May 11, 1968, during a ceremony that also included the presentation of the organization's Charter of Affiliation with the CCP.

With an initial membership of 61 pioneer members consisting of prominent local businessmen, traders, industrialists, and agriculturists, the chamber began its journey of advocating for economic growth and development in Davao City.

Over the years, the Davao City Chamber's membership grew significantly, keeping pace with the city's ongoing socio-political-economic expansion. As of today, with over 500 members, the chamber continues to play a pivotal role in contributing to the economic advancement of Davao City and representing the collective interests of its business community.
